About Casper Marathon

                                                          The Casper Marathon

Was started in approximately 2002 by members of the local running group, The Windy City Striders. The local organization had received significant interest for a sanctioned full marathon race and wanted to explore the opportunity to host this annual event, in addition to their regular Casper series of running events, which they continue to host today.

  1. As the Casper Wyoming Marathon grew in participation over the years, it was decided to create a separate board-committee to help manage the logistics of the Wyoming Marathon. The event, now known as the Visit Casper Marathon, has flourished into the fastest-growing running event in the state of Wyoming. In 2025, it will also host an RRCA State Championship Race, alongside its traditional USATF and Boston-qualifying race for those pursuing running goals and aiming to participate in one of Wyoming’s largest marathons.

The Visit Casper Marathon offers a variety of race distances, including a 10K, Half Marathon, Full Marathon Relay, and the traditional Full Marathon on the first Sunday in June each year. All races at the event are professionally timed with RFD-chipped race bibs, whether you’re running the 10K, Half Marathon, Full Marathon Relay, or Full Marathon. If you’re coming from out of town, be sure to check out lodging discounts available through the event’s host hotel, as well as the many fun things to do in Casper, Wyoming.

The course features a loop-out-and-back design, with 90% of the surface being asphalt and 10% concrete. The starting elevation is 5310 feet, and the finish line is at 5187 feet. Aid stations are located approximately every two miles. Along the course, participants can enjoy views of Wyoming’s wildlife along the Platte River Trails system and see some of Casper’s historical sights.

We’ll kick off the event with a new pre-race packet pickup, health & fitness expo, pasta dinner, and guest speakers on May 30th and 31st, before the big race day on June 1st. Following the traditional cannon shot at the Wyoming Ford Center starting line, runners will navigate a new race course designed to help them achieve their personal bests or even take home the win!

The finish line festivities will be held at Casper’s David Street Station, featuring favorite foods, drinks, live music performed by Chad Lore, and an awards ceremony celebrating the best overall runners and age group participants.

So grab your friends and register today—this year’s event will be one for the record books and create some great memories!
