About Casper Marathon

The Casper Marathon was started in 2002 by members of the Local Casper Running group called “The Windy City Striders”.  The local running organization had a lot of interest for a sanctioned full marathon race and wanted to explore the opportunity to host the annual event in addition to their local Casper series of running events, which they are still actively hosting today.

As the Casper Wyoming Marathon grew in participant numbers over the years in the community it was decided to create a separate board-committee to help with the Marathons logistics.  The now “Visit Casper Marathon” today has since flourished into the fastest growing running event in the Cowboy State of Wyoming and will also be hosting an RRCA State Championship Race in 2024, along with its traditional USATF Boston Qualifying for those who wish to pursue their running goals and becoming amongst some of the largest Wyoming Marathon’s races in the state today.

The Visit Casper Marathon event also hosts a variety of races distances offering  a 10k race, Half Marathon race, a Full Marathon relay race, and it’s traditional Full Marathon Race in the Cowboy State on that first Sunday in June annually. All the Wyoming running races at the Visit Casper Marathon event are professionally timed with RFD Chipped Race Bibs whether you are running the 10K, Half Marathon, Full Marathon Relay or the Full Marathon race event.  This year the Pre-Race and Packet pickup in 2024 will consist of a Health & Sports Fitness Expo in Casper Wyoming that include guest speakers, Pasta dinner availability and of course Runners Swag and T-Shirts and festivities.

You also can be sure to get some local discounts off your Casper Wyoming Lodging if coming in from out of town and visiting us here in Casper Wyoming community through this years host hotel.  The Course Type is a Loop out & back with the Surface being 90% Asphalt with 10% Concrete, Elevation at the Starting line at 5310ft with Finish at 5187ft, with the Aid Stations being  approximately every two miles. There is also opportunity  along the way while running your race event to view some of Wyoming’s wildlife along our Platte River Trails system area, and see some Casper’s historical sights along the way.

This year the Visit Casper Marathons all new Finish and 21st Year of festivities will be held at the David Street Station in downtown Casper where there will be live music and an Award ceremony for the Best overall runners and Age group participants as well. Be sure to check the website for updates and new race information details, great places to visit while here, lodging discounts and more  www.Runwyoming.com
